EAGLE PASS, TX – Authorities arrested a known subject after he attempted to steal a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) patrol vehicle parked near the inspection area at the International Bridge No. 2, according to police.
The suspect, identified as Héctor Jiménez, 38, was allegedly walking across the bridge when he approached the federal government-owned pickup truck, opened the door, and attempted to drive away.
CBP officers noticed Jiménez during the act and quickly intervened, subduing him as he resisted arrest. According to reports, Jiménez admitted to attempting the theft, claiming, “You took one from me.”
Authorities revealed that Jiménez was previously arrested for human smuggling, which may have been the reason for his comment about losing a vehicle to law enforcement.
Jiménez was handed over to local police and charged with vehicle theft. A judge set his bond at $20,000, and he was later transferred to the Maverick County Jail.
Records indicate that Jiménez has an extensive criminal history, with recent charges involving domestic violence. In a previous incident, he reportedly held his mother against her will inside a home in the Seco Mines area, threatening her with a knife.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Sujeto Intentó Robar una Patrulla de CBP en el Puente Internacional 2
EAGLE PASS, TX – Las autoridades arrestaron a un delincuente reconocido luego de que intentara robar una patrulla de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza (CBP) que se encontraba estacionada cerca del área de inspección en el Puente Internacional Número 2.
El sospechoso, identificado como Héctor Jiménez, de 38 años, cruzaba el puente a pie cuando se aproximó a la camioneta propiedad del gobierno federal, abrió la puerta e intentó llevársela.
Los agentes de CBP se percataron del intento de robo mientras Jiménez realizaba las maniobras, por lo que intervinieron rápidamente y lograron someterlo, a pesar de que el sujeto se resistió al arresto.
Según los informes, Jiménez admitió que sí intentó robar la camioneta, justificándose al decir: “Ustedes me quitaron uno a mí”.
Las autoridades informaron que Jiménez había sido arrestado anteriormente por tráfico de personas, lo que podría haber motivado su comentario respecto a la pérdida de un vehículo confiscado por las autoridades.
Jiménez fue entregado a la policía local y acusado de robo de vehículo. Un juez le impuso una fianza de $20,000 dólares, y posteriormente fue trasladado a la Cárcel del Condado de Maverick.
Los registros indican que Jiménez cuenta con un amplio historial criminal, con cargos recientes por violencia doméstica. En un incidente anterior, se reportó que mantuvo a su madre retenida contra su voluntad dentro de una casa en el área de Minas del Seco, donde la amenazó con un arma blanca.
