Eagle Pass, TX - A local man who was reported by his wife for physically assaulting her was detained by sheriff deputies after going to turn himself in to the county jail on Wednesday evening.
The man was identified as Israel Arreola, an active officer of the Eagle Pass Police Department, who allegedly assaulted his wife at a residence in the Pueblo Nuevo sector on November 26, MCSO report says.
Sheriff Tom Schmerber said that Arreola will be prosecuted on domestic violence charges, his case will be referred to the District Attorney's office.
According to the complainant's report, her husband attempted to suffocate her and push her against the wall, he also threw a bottle of beer on her chest, and struck her in the face.
EPPD confirmed that Arreola is an active officer and regarding the consequences he might face, will be determined by the high ranking officials.

El hombre fue identificado como Israel Arreola, un oficial activo del departamento de Policía de Eagle Pass, quien supuestamente agredió a su esposa en una residencia en el sector Pueblo Nuevo el 26 de noviembre, segun el informe de MCSO.
El alguacil Tom Schmerber dijo que Arreola será procesado por cargos de violencia doméstica, su caso será remitido a la oficina del Fiscal de Distrito.
Según el informe de la denunciante, su esposo intentó asfixiarla y empujarla contra la pared, también le arrojó una botella de cerveza en el pecho y la golpeó en la cara.
La EPPD confirmó que Arreola es un oficial activo y en cuanto a las consecuencias que podría enfrentar, serán determinadas por los altos funcionarios.
