Lady Eagles steal game one in extra innings

With a thrilling come from behind effort the Lady Eagles snatched game one of the area championship away from the Edinburg Lady Bobcats by a score of 11-7 in extra innings. Edinburg jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but in the top of the fifth the Lady Eagles plated two runs of their own to knot the score.

Disaster struck in the bottom of the sixth when the Lady Bobcats scored four times thanks in part to some defensive miscues, 6-2 Edinburg entering the Lady Eagles final at bat.

And then the Lady Eagle bats really came alive, plating four runs to once again tie the score and in the eighth scoring five more times to take a commanding 11-6 lead. Edinburg scored a meaningless run the bottom half of the inning to end the game at 11-7 in favor of the Lady Eagles.

Game two is set for Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Laredo with a third game, if necessay, to follow 30 minutes later.
