AUSTIN, Texas — Governor Greg Abbott hailed a major milestone in Texas’ economic expansion on Tuesday with the announcement that the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), part of Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE: ICE), plans to establish NYSE Texas, a fully electronic equities exchange headquartered in Dallas.
“Texas is the most powerful economy in the nation, and now we will become the financial capital of America,” Governor Abbott stated. “With the launch of NYSE Texas, we will expand our financial might in the United States and cement our great state as an economic powerhouse on the global stage. I thank the New York Stock Exchange for choosing Texas. As part of this initiative, NYSE: ICE announced plans to reincorporate NYSE Chicago in Texas and rebrand it as NYSE Texas, pending regulatory approval. The move reflects the state’s growing prominence in finance and investment.
On Monday, Governor Abbott met with NYSE: ICE Founder, Chairman, and CEO Jeffrey Sprecher, along with NYSE Group President Lynn Martin, to discuss the upcoming launch of NYSE Texas and the new economic opportunities it will bring to both Texas and the global business community.
