Eagle Pass, TX - The mayor of Eagle Pass Ramsey English Cantu and Mayor Pro-Tem Yolanda Ramon presented an award of recognition to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Officer Homero Villarreal for saving the life of a 2-year-old boy who almost drowned when falling into a pool.
The ceremony took place on Monday, June 2 afternoon at the City of Eagle Pass City Hall, where city officials honored the officer in a well-deserved recognition ceremony.
This heroic act occurred on Friday, June 15, when the infant fell into the pool of the Latigo Apartment Complex located on Second St.

The DPS Trooper was off duty when he happened to see the baby in danger, he rescued the child from the water and effectively managed to perform CPR procedures.
Paramedics arrived at the incident location and transported the boy to the emergency room, then to a hospital in San Antonio, thanks to the timely intervention of the DPS agent the 2-year-old survived.
Officer Homero Villarreal said, "God put me there at the right time, at the right place..."
